Research indicates that online therapy can be as effective as in-person sessions. We provide online (video) counseling sessions, allowing you to get the treatment you need without having to leave your home or office. This makes it easier to fit sessions into your busy schedule. This option is great if transportation is challenging, you don’t have childcare, or if you’re finding it hard to fit a trip to a therapist into your schedule. This option also allows us to see clients from all parts of Virginia. We can use the online option for all of our sessions, or as an occasional option to add to your in-person sessions when it’s more convenient. We offer online sessions on evenings and weekends to make counseling as accessible as possible.
How it Works
We can have sessions from anywhere that you have an internet connection, video-enabled device, and a quiet, private place to talk. We will use our HIPAA-compliant electronic health record system, Simple Practice, to conduct virtual sessions.
You will need:
- Laptop or Desktop computer with either Firefox or Google Chrome browser No download or registration necessary
- OR the Simple Practice app for iOS with your iPad or iPhone (No registration necessary.)
- This guide will help you get started with telehealth sessions.
Once you have contacted us to schedule an appointment, you will receive an email with a link from which you can access the online waiting room. We will be alerted when you arrive and we will begin our online session. From there the session will run very similarly to an in-person session.
