Emmalee Bishop, MA

Who am I?

Hi there! My name is Emmalee. I was born and raised in Pennsylvania where I earned my Elementary Education Teaching degree. I spent the next 10 years teaching in the United States, Vietnam, China, and Germany. I moved to Richmond in 2021 when I married my husband and we now have a wonderful little boy. He is a joy in our life and currently takes up all my free time. I am passionate about delicious food and learning about different cultures.

I am currently a Resident in Counseling working toward becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I earned a Master’s in Clinical and Mental Health Counseling from Colorado Christian University in 2023. I believe therapy is a collaborative process between the client and their counselor. Together we can work to help the client live an abundant life through building strong connections and healing from past hurts. I am passionate about the value of strong positive relationships and the great impact they can have on the quality of one’s life.

I love working with:

People. In whatever life stage we are in there are new things to learn, hard things to process, and difficulties to overcome. I am passionate about walking that journey alongside you no matter if you are a child, teenager, young adult, or adult, and together navigate these sometimes difficult waters called life.

I especially love working with Third Culture Kids/Adults. If you spent your formative years outside of the US with your parents, you have a special place in my heart, and I’d love to help you process your story.

Some of my favorite approaches include:

– Mindfulness

– Relational Cultural Theory

-Cognitive Behavioral Theory

Some of my favorite authors are Brene Brown, Curt Thompson, and Dr. Caroline Leaf.
