Brittany Horak, MSW

Who am I?

I began my clinical work in 2009, working with children and families through intensive in-home services and with single adults through mental health support services. I have continued to work with children, families, and adults with mental health and / or physical disabilities through a local agency in the Williamsburg, Virginia area, where I have worked for over 11 years.  I attended James Madison University for my Bachelor’s in Social Work and then I attended Virginia Commonwealth University to obtain my Master of Clinical Social Work.

I love working with:

I have years of experience working with clients in crisis, who have experienced trauma, homelessness, Veterans, adults in the local jail setting, clients with terminal illness, hospice, grief, life transitions, anxiety, depression, clients with serious mental illness, and clients with comorbidities that make it challenging to manage their everyday needs. I also have experience working with parents and children needing support services and case management services.

Some of my favorite approaches include:

My work is individually based on each client and curtailed to their preferences. Play Therapy, Art Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy / Mindfulness, and Ministry are some of the techniques utilized during sessions with clients. Working with others is a life calling, and I strive to work in partnership with those who seek supportive services during their current stage of life to help them reach their goals and potential.
