What is Middle School Girls Therapy Group?

This group provides a welcoming, supportive environment where middle school girls can feel safe and understood.  They can feel comfortable sharing their experiences while building connections with other girls.  They can learn the skills they need to develop a positive self concept so that they can live healthy, abundant lives.

Who is this group for?

Middle school girls struggling with sadness, loneliness, anxiety, worry, social challenges, and lack of self worth can all benefit from Middle School Girls Therapy Group.  On the surface these girls might look like they have it "all together."  They work hard, do well in school, and are overall good kids with good lives.  On the inside, however, they feel uneasy, disconnected, and discontent.  They are not satisfied with their lives and themselves and may not be able to articulate why.  They may talk about not liking who they are while being overwhelmed as they try to manage the appearance of perfection.  Their parents may wonder if this is all "normal" or if there's more to done to help their daughter.

Who is Middle School Girls Therapy Group not for?

If your daughter is violent, abusing drugs or alcohol, or actively suicidal, she might not be the best fit for the group setting.  Group needs to feel safe for all members, and if your daughter is struggling with these issues, more specialized treatment would probably be most helpful before considering joining the group.

What topics will be covered in the group?

  • Anxiety ... developing coping skills to manage the stresses of middle school
  • Friendships ... learn to navigate the ups and downs of peer relationships and social dynamics
  • Identity ... consider values, goals, and ideas about self while learning to give and receive feedback
  • Empathy ... create healthy connections with others who get their experience

The Bottom Line???

Middle school doesn't have to be miserable!  There are others like you, and you can join together to make it a meaningful season of growth and joy!
