As a therapist, I see myself as a guide. I walk alongside clients in the most challenging times in their life, helping them to gently explore the layers of the painful and tangled psychological and social situations they are navigating. Clients are often searching for meaning. They may find themselves struggling with a sense of emptiness or worthlessness. I see my work as helping clients to recover their understanding of their own sacredness and worthiness.
Many times this search for joy and meaning is made more difficult by psychological stressors such as anxiety, depression, or addiction. As a trained professional, my job is to recognize symptoms of these psychological challenges, present my findings as a suggestion, and help the client devise a plan for treatment that integrates proven psychology tailored to the client’s personality, background, and faith.
I enjoy working with all clients. I feel particularly skilled at working with clients struggling with panic, anxiety, and depression, individuals on the autism spectrum, and with couples struggling with marital conflict or parenting issues.
As well as being a professional, I am a mother of a large family and have been married for 22 years. I have a child with special needs and am very familiar with the joys and stresses of marriage and parenting. I am dedicated to supporting families and individuals through therapy.
Special Clinical Interests: Maternal Mental Health, Anxiety, Panic Disorder, Depression, Parenting, Couples Counseling, Autism Spectrum Disorder
Theoretical Orientation: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Logotherapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
Education:
Master of Education in Community Counseling, College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, Virginia, 2007.
Bachelor of Arts, Princeton University, New Jersey, 1996.
