I believe people are relational beings and we are not meant to do life alone. But, I also know that life is hard and that sometimes we struggle in our relationships with others, with ourselves, with our work, and with our worth. My goal is to help others move through their struggles to find joy in life!
Throughout high school and college, I sought out opportunities to work with children and teens. As an undergraduate student at Christopher Newport University, I was privileged to mentor middle and high school girls through my church as they navigated a variety of challenges at home and school. I was also able serve as a leader for students from middle school through college on both domestic and international mission trips. These experiences led me to pursue my Master of Education in School Counseling so I could continue working with children as they dealt with life’s obstacles. Upon graduating, I spent a number of years as a school counselor right here in Williamsburg. I truly loved the ability to walk alongside children on a daily basis. Through countless in depth discussions with parents and co-workers, I realized that it wasn’t just the children in need of a listening ear.
Being at home with my two children has only deepened my understanding of our need for community, relationships, and connection. I am excited to provide one-on-one support to those who need a safe place to process. I like to focus on developing coping strategies, problem-solving techniques, and next steps in helping you meet your goals. I am also passionate about working with groups and believe there is strength in numbers. As a group, we will work together to address our anxiety and fears, share our personal experiences, and brainstorm approaches to tackling life’s challenges. I am passionate about helping individuals strengthen their connections with others. I know first hand how comforting it is to have feelings validated and discover that you are not the only one feeling the way you do. I look forward to meeting you and would love the opportunity to work with you or your child!
